United States: Labour leader Keir Starmer also dined with Trump for a two-hour dinner meeting in New York to make a friendly connection with the RP candidate. The Head of government was accompanied by a foreign secretary David Lammy who in 2018 came out strongly against Trump calling him a ‘sub-basement’, neo-Nazi sympathiser, but has expressed the readiness to work with the American president in his political seat.

According to BBC sources, Starmer and Trump spoke about the perennial bond between the two countries during dinner. There has been no further response to Downing Street concerning the issues discussed. During his visit of New York in the frame of the UN General Assembly, Starmer has not been able to schedule a meeting with the Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, who was based in Washington.

Before the meeting, Starmer told the press that he would like to meet both candidates; he said that is was important to meet Trump, and he still wants to meet Harris. He also noted need to cultivate relationships on the international level more stress was put on personal associations.

Just days prior to Starmer’s interaction, Trump conducted a press session in which he announced an increase of speaking operating in the US, which he blamed on his competitor Harris. At the same time Harris had earlier a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the White House, denouncing Trump’s approach towards the Russia’s confrontation as capitulation.

In relation to Starmer, Trump said that he was going to meet him and had a good sentiment about the Prime Minister. Trump also referred to Nigel Farage, the leader of the Reform party, congratulating him on victory in a recently conducted election but, at the same time, indicating that he had some difficulties with understanding the nature of UK’s elections

Before that in the UN General Assembly, Starmer said that the UK would eschew imperial and arrogant approach, suggesting that the world needed less telling and more listening.
