US Executes Man with Nitrogen Gas for First Time Since 1994

United States: An Alabama man, Carey Dale Grayson, was executed for killing a woman named Vickie Deblieux in 1994. He was convicted of the crime in 1996. On Thursday, he became the third person in U.S. history to be executed using nitrogen gas, a new method. Grayson’s lawyers tried to stop the execution by asking the U.S. Supreme Court to review the method, but the court decided not to stop it.
None of the states has applied nitrogen hypoxia to enforce the death penalty.
For this murder, Grayson was executed at the William C. Holman Correction Facility in Alabama, and some of his victim’s kin fumed at the act.
Jodie Haley, Daughter of dead Deblieux was 12 years old for the time of the murder, she said to the reporters regarding the whimpering of Grayson it was proclaimed that he was abused all his youth. She claimed that ‘’society failed this man as a child, my family was the price we had to pay’’.
‘‘Under the pretext of justice, those involved in murdering inmates should cease,’’ said Kavulich. She also stated that “nobody should have the right to strip a person of possibilities, days and life.”
This year, the state of Alabama started using nitrogen gas as the method of executing death penalties. It involves replacing air with respirator gas mask and nitrogen that make available to the body is not enough, hence insufficient oxygen.
Han(hash)s lawyers stated that the new method leads to what they referred to as conscious suffocation and does not induce immediate blackout.
However, state attorneys indicated last month that two prisoners had been executed by nitrogen hypoxia this year. The latest among them occurred last month.
They said that Grayson made obscene gestures before the execution on Thursday and shook while taking mere gasping breaths when the gas was turned on to him, US media said.
He was one of four teenagers convicted in the killing of Deblieux and the only one that was above the age of 18 at the time of the murder. He was the only one to undergo the death penalty.
Deblieux had intended to hitchhike from Tennessee on to Louisiana when she was given a ride by the four teenage boys.
The teenagers dragged her to a wooded area and then they caned her, stomached on her throat, and finally tossed her body off a cliff.
