U.S. Hits Hamas Bigwigs with Terrorism Charges!

United States: Federal prosecutors have charged Yahya Sinwar, the leader of the Hamas group, and five other senior members for planning and carrying out terrorist attacks in Israel, including a major attack on October 7.
The charges were revealed in a new complaint unsealed on Tuesday. This complaint, first filed in New York in February, also named two other Hamas leaders not previously linked to the attacks and reported that 43 Americans are believed to have died.
Additional Leaders Named in the Complaint
As reported by the New York Time, the other leaders named are Ismail Haniyeh who had overseen Hamas’s political office in the Quatar Muhammad Dief and the commander of the group military wing, now there is Ali Barakeh who is a senior Hamas based in Beirut and the Khaled Meshal a former political group who remains a top official.
Mr Dief and Mr. Issa were killed int eh Israeli airstrikes during the fighting in the Gaza. Mr. Haniyeh who is a top negotiator in the cease-fire talks and was assassinated in iran after a bomb was covertly smuggled into the guest house where he was staying.

Mr. Meshal, presently living in Qatar and Mr. Haniyeh were not reported to have been involved in the execution of the Oct. 7 attacks. As shown above, the two men were all outside Gaza whenever the attacks occurred, and this has surprised Israel and Mr. Barakeh. Before he died, Mr. Haniyeh lived in Doha.
Both American and Israeli intelligence estimated that the plans regarding the attack were kept very top secret and were only known to the hard liners in Gaza including Mr. Sinwar and Mr. Deif. If true, then the American government has charges to answer against the political members of hamas which may put a different color on the activities of the group.
Revelations of Hostage Executions and American Casualties
The charges raised political turmoil particularly as the White House battles to rescue ceasefire negotiations and following the revelation over the weekend the Hamas had executed six hostages in the Gaza as well as shooting dead a 23-year-old Israel-American whose death elicited a lot of mourning across the United States.
From those writers, just about 250 were. NY who was among them Hersh Goldberg-Polin, was among those, abruptly arrested on Oct. He was seriously injured but believed to be still alive before they succeeded in killing him, this being the handiwork of Hamas.
Political Impact and Diplomatic Struggles
There are seven more Americans who are still in Gaza while three of them are thought to have been killed on Oct. 7 or in the days following. The other four are missing their account.
“The FBI is investigating Hersh’s murder as well as every one of those brutal murders of Americans as acts of terrorism,” America’s Attorney General, Merrick B. Garland stated. “As I have done from day one, I will keep on supporting the whole of government approach to rescue the Americans held hostage.”
Charges Facing Hamas Leaders
Among the seven counts the Hamas leaders face: conspiracy to assassinate US citizens, conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists, conspiracy to employ weapons of mass destruction that causes death and conspiracy to provide support to terrorism that leads to death. There are some counts, which go as far back as 1997.
