Snowstorms and Delays Threaten Record-Breaking Holiday Travel

United States: Millions of people have started traveling for the holidays, but wintry weather is making it tough. Cold temperatures, snow showers, and wet roads are causing traffic problems across the country, slowing down drivers as they head to their destinations.
AAA investigates more than 119 million people will travel for Christmas and Hanukkah which are both on the same day this year through new year, a number that is above a travel record before the coronavirus pandemic in 2019.
This is what you should know about holiday travel.
Rain and snow are helping make some travel ideas unwieldy for a few.
As reported by the npr.org, precipitation in the form of rain or snow has been falling in the Pacific Northwest since Saturday and in the Northeast as well as regions surrounding the Great Lakes, the Arctic blast has arrived bringing with it much colder temperatures, states the National Weather Service.

Some travelers have been delayed before the holiday because of the following airports. There was report on Friday that heavy fogs led to hundreds of flights delay at San Diego International Airport as reported by KPBS. Increasing scale of ice and snow has also brought disappointing news for those who were flying in and out of Boston Logan International Airport.
On Sunday, there are storm warnings in northern Cascades in the Pacific Northwest and Rockies, and flood may occur in northern California coast.
The NWS says that rain will persist across the Pacific Northwest on Monday. More snow may be possible in the rest of the Great Lakes Western area as well.

Travel will be complicated throughout many parts of the nation particularly on Christmas Eve because thunderstorms are expected on the southern Plains. Rain will reduce mobility in the States of the western coast and in the Ohio valley as well. There are also going to be snow in the Northeast, a place that could be up to 3 inches of snow hence a possibility of a White Christmas.
The NWS said that some parts of the west coast especially Washington, Oregon, and northern California, the Midwest, the areas around the great lakes, and northern New England may also open to a white Christmas.
