United States: The U.S. Senate approved John Ratcliffe’s CIA appointment when members voted 74-25 on Thursday. During his Senate Intelligence Committee hearing Ratcliffe received intensive questioning about his dedication to preserve political independence within the intelligence community. A majority of 14 justices on the committee successfully advanced his nomination before it reached the Senate floor for senators to give their final vote of approval.

Ratcliffe’s Priorities as CIA Director
When serving as intelligence director Ratcliffe made it a priority to showcase America’s capabilities for neutralizing Russian and Chinese threats. He committed to examine whether adversaries targeted U.S. personnel who had Havana Syndrome attacks and whether they were developing offensive cyber capabilities, as reported by Reuters.
