Is Trump’s Campaign Map Expanding or Contracting?

United States: On the last Saturday of July, during a very busy and uncertain time in the presidential race, Donald Trump spoke to a huge crowd in St. Cloud, Minnesota. He made a bold prediction that he could achieve something no Republican candidate had done in almost 50 years.

As reported by CNN, the former President said,” I’m telling you if we have an honest election and we’re going to blow it out in the Minnesota.”

Change in Campaign Focus

Still, since that loud announcement, Trump has not visited the Gopher State again or at least as we write this. His running mate JD Vance, who was standing next to him on that stage that evening, has not done so either. Neither have they been exposed to Trump campaign ads on their television in the recent past and they will not this fall.

Trump and his advisers at one time saw a far larger electoral map and an electoral college strategy that would perhaps attempt to seriously challenge the Democrats in solid blue states and give the Republican nominee more ways to reach the presidency.

In May relying on the financiers at his Mar-a-Lago club, Trump outlined his strategy of the contest in Minnesota and Virginia. He carried an office in New Hampshire and also had a rally at the Jersey shore.

Current Campaign Strategy

The last part of the battle for the presidency contingent, nevertheless, will be waged in, well, more recognizable territory. Trump’s campaign and his allies have reserved about USD 160 million in airtime this fall with nearly all of it planned for the same states that proved pivotal in the 2020 election: These states are Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia, Nevada and Arizona.

The same pattern is observable when it comes to the campaign’s calendar. Since St. Cloud, every Trump rally and Vance campaign speech have been in seven Midwest and Sun Belt states – the ones that are considered to be swing states.

Shifts and New Dynamics

Trump’s plans over the next two days follow that pattern: an event with police on Friday in North Carolina, where the first ballots have been slated to begin going out that day, and a rally in the middle of Wisconsin on Saturday.

Donald Trump’s retreat from states that used to be painted red is indicative that the election is fast approaching and the new map that Democrats are charting in the aftermath of the shuffle in the Democratic ticket and bright new star Kamala Harris. Mike Pence raised more than USD 13 million in August, more than doubling the total Trump brought in during the same month, officials with the Pence campaign said Friday.
