Inside Washington’s Mega-Operation for Trump’s Inauguration: A Preview

United States: As Washington prepares for President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration next week, the city is also bracing for a massive security operation. With almost 30 miles of temporary fencing, 25,000 law enforcement officers, and also numerous security checkpoints, the capital is ready for the thousands of spectators expected to gather.
The grand swearing-in ceremony on the steps of the U.S. Capitol, which is also followed by a parade to the White House, will take place on Monday, which is amidst a weekend filled with protests, rallies, and celebrations from both Trump supporters and opponents.
As reported by Reuters, the inauguration comes after a campaign year in which Donald Trump survived two assassination attempts, including one in which a shot getter came within a whisker of his ear, and a double New Year’s Day assault on your average Joe.

In one, 14 people were killed and dozens injured when a US Army veteran ploughed a truck into a crowd that was celebrating New Year’s Eve in the city of New Orleans. The same day an active-duty US Army soldier blew up a Tesla Cybertruck in front of Trump’s edifice in Las Vegas, committing suicide at the same time.
‘We are in a higher threat environment,’ said U.S. Secret Service Special Agent in Charge Matt McCool at a Monday press briefing.
The swearing in itself, when Trump puts on the oath of office with other people present; congressional representatives, Supreme Court Justices, members of the inaugurated’s administration camp, and tens of thousands of other individuals in witness, will transpire on the steps of the Capitol facing the Washington Monument.

That is the same place where on January 6, 2021, Trump’s supporters stormed the Capitol, broke windows, fought with cops, and forced Congress flee to the safety for an aim of preventing President Joe Biden’s certification of the 2020 election win.
On Nov. 5, Trump’s 2024 election opponent, the Democratic vice president Kamala Harris, admitted defeat, unlike Trump, who keeps insisting about the alleged rigging of the vote.
FEAR OF A LONE WOLF
Security agencies admitted they had no information of any peculiar and sophisticated threats to the inauguration. What they are worried about is something like the New Orleans attacker, or two separate incidences that occurred last week. In one, a man was arrested for his attempt to enter the Capitol with a machete. In the other, a man was arrested for attempting to set the fire around the Capitol, the U.S. Capitol Police reported.
