Heavy Snow and Rain Hit U.S. This Thanksgiving Weekend

United States: A large storm is disrupting travel during Thanksgiving holiday weekend, which happens to be a time of year of high traffic. This storm first appeared as snow in the West and was headed east; heavy rain and snow is expected in the region.
Current predictions are that on Thanksgiving Day there should be 4-8 inches of snow in the northern Appalachians. It will also bring rain for major cities of the Northeast. This storm could lead to the closure of civilian aviation and possibly bring great traffic so anyone who is planning to travel should expect bad weather.
According to the USA Today, The National Weather Service has claimed that the storm is to persist in moving east and this is likely to cause conditions including the Colorado Rockies & Mississippi, Tennessee, Ohio valleys.
Most of Colorado was blanketed by snow on Wednesday and roads were shut as workers cleared major highways, said the Department of Transportation. Flights out of Denver and Salt Lake City International Airport “is being treated with dicing fluids to removes snows and ice” this was according to the Federal Aviation Administration. There has not been any major delay that has been reported.
Rain and storms are expected to pound much of the I-95 corridor Wednesday evening into Thanksgiving Day affecting Philadelphia, Washington D.C., New York City and Boston, have been forecasted by AccuWeather meteorologists. Driving rain is also expected in most regions in the Southeast, including northern Florida, Georgia and South and North Carolina respectively.
That will mean possibly the worst of the holiday weather is yet to come to communities throughout the Great Lakes with multiple feet of snow and whiteout conditions anticipated. Mich, Wisconsin, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Ohio and some parts of western New York will come under a snowstorm of 2 to 3 inches per hour among the heaviest bands that reduce visibility to near zero posing a serious danger that has caused weather officials and local authorities to issue warnings.

It is custom to see crews that deal with snow covered roads in Colorado.
Streets in Denver and Boulder and across Colorado were shut down Wednesday morning as snow persisted to dump and slow Thanksgiving traffic.
Among the dozens of closed roads was a section of US Route 50 closed for snow removal operations as classified by the Colorado Department of Transportation. US 50, one of the main corridors in Colorado, crosses the United States from west Sacramento in California to Ocean City in Maryland.
The transportation department on Tuesday said that they put on hold until spring, a plan resurfacing on U.S. Route 34 and U.S. Route 36, to put more work on the sidewalks and retaining wall alongside both major roads.
