Fire Spreads Swiftly, Forcing Lockdowns and Large-Scale Evacuations

United States: Firefighters worked quickly to protect buildings as a fast-moving wildfire spread near Pepperdine University in Malibu on Monday evening. The fire, called the Franklin Fire which hereby started around 10:45 p.m. near Malibu Canyon Road.
By 4 a.m., the fire had burned 1,822 acres and was not yet contained. Strong Santa Ana winds made the fire really like for spread even faster. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
The quickly burning of the fires who led authorities to issue which is mandatory evacuations east of Malibu Canyon Road and south of Piuma Road as well as in the Serra Retreat area, according to the officials in a posting on X, formerly Tweeter.
At 2:36 a.m., the Malibu city officials called for mandatory evacuation of residents from Tuna Canyon to Puerco Canyon and an evacuation advisory for residents of Puerco Canyon to Trancas Canyon.
As reported by the KTLA5, the fire let to Malibu Canyon Road around 1am putting those in the vicinity in a very dangerous position. By 3:30 AM Malibu city officials said that flames had also crossed Pacific Coast Highway.

They also could not determine the number of structures that were affected or how many of them were ultimately knocked down.
All students and staff at Pepperdine University received a shelter in place directive. A representative said this to news station KTLA and the spokesman said that the university was well designed to prevent harm to anyone in the middle of that area, of the campus.
In a 1:9:00 AM- X POST, Pepperdine University sent out an alert:
“All community members on the Malibu campus are instructed to proceed to the Tyler Campus Center or the Payson Library for the shelter in place.” Regardless of whether an evacuation order is issued by the Malibu city or other surrounding areas, the University must be followed.
In fact, we do not evacuate the campus even if other areas around might do so– this shelter in place plan adopted by the university has the support of LA County Fire and is implemented with their assistance.

The University posted those normal operations, including classes and finals, have been canceled for Tuesday.
Paying employees of California Highway Patrol arrested parts of the Pacific Coast Highway from Carbon Canyon and Corral Canyon so that people had quick ways of evacuating.
At this location the road was shut down from Mulholland Highway to Pacific Coast Highway along the Malibu Canyon Road.
The residents of Palisades were asked to evacuate as an evacuation center was established at Palisades Recreation Center 851 Alma Real Dr – Palisades, Pacific Palisades.
