Epic Fail: Bear Falls from Tree and Crushes Hunter in Virginia 

United States:  A man in Virginia tragically died when a bear, shot by one of his hunting partners, fell on him from a tree. The incident happened on December 9 in Lunenburg County, which is located between Richmond and Danville. State wildlife officials are investigating the accident. 

The bear evaded its hunters when it climbed the tree, according to the department that said a hunting group was following the bear. When the group began to move away from the tree, a hunter fired at the bear.  

As reported by the CNN, the animal decided to fall on another hunter who was 10 feet (3 meters) away from the bottom of the tree, the department said. 

The remains of the man were identified to be Lester C. Harvey of Phenix Virginia, aged 58 years.  

One of the group members was able to provide aid before Harvey was transported to two hospitals respectively. He succumbed to his injuries on Friday, wildlife department said. 

An obituary of Harvey, 49, described by his family as a married man with five children and eight grandchildren said he was a contractor. 

Comparable occurrences were noted in the present years. 

Early in the year 2018, a man from Alaska was severely mauled by a bear after his fellow hunter fired a shot of bear on a ridge. The animal rolled down a slope to the man and knocked him and just as he added a few rocks loosened by the bear. 

Another man was injured in 2019 when his hunting companion shot a bear up a tree in North Carolina. Eventually the bear tumbled off the tree and started biting the hunter. They then fell off a cliff together, the man and the animal. The hunter had to be admitted to a hospital and the bear was reportedly later discovered dead.
