Drones Spotted Over Critical Sites: Is America Facing a New Threat
Despite growing some concerns and calls for military action, officials assure the public that the mysterious drone sightings are being investigated and pose no immediate security threat.

United States: There have been reports of mysterious flying objects, possibly drones, spotted over neighborhoods, important sites, and restricted areas in recent weeks. People are concerned and calling for military help. Federal officials are working to find out more, but they have said there is no evidence that these drones are a security threat, and they’ve urged everyone to stay calm.
I want to reassure the people of America, we are on it,” Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said on ABCs “This Week.”
Actual sight of drones forced at least one airport, Stewart International airport in New York, to shut its runways for nearly an hour on Friday night.
As reported by the CNN, at around the same time, airspace over Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio was also closed due to drones while authorities were watching the event, according to base public affairs spokesman Bob Purtiman in the WHIO of CNN.
Wright-Patterson hosts operations that track cyber threats and the 655th Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Group, that supervises 14 intelligence squadrons across the United States. CNN tried to get a comment from the Air Force.
“This has gone too far,” demanded Governor Kathy Hochul of New York on Saturday, noting in her words last month, she instructed the New York State Intelligence Center “to investigate reports of drone activity and work with the federal authorities to tackle this problem.
Nevertheless, state governments keep on demanding additional information and funds from federal authorities for the investigation of the sightings. Even in Morris County, New Jersey, authorities are demanding the government asking Washington to use all the available federal power and the military to stop the flight of drones over our county and other parts of New Jersey without requisite authority.
House Intelligence Committee is going to be briefed about the New Jersey drones Tuesday SS, New Jersey Tuesday afternoon, a source familiar with the matter said.
Last week, a legal Chinese resident of the USA was criminally charged for taking prohibited aerials with a drone at Vandenburg Space Force Base in California during SpaceX launching ‘a National Reconnaissance Office payload,’ following a criminal complaint obtained by NBC News.
