Doctors Unite Against Kennedy’s HHS Nomination

United States: In a bold move, more than 17,000 doctors are calling on the Senate to block President-elect Donald Trump’s nomination of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to lead the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
In an open letter which is already posted by the Committee to Protect Health Care, a leading physician advocacy group, these healthcare professionals are raising serious concerns about Kennedy’s qualifications and fitness for the role. They argue that his views are “actively dangerous” and could put public health at risk.
This appointment is a slap in the face of ever Health Care worker who has dedicated their lives to trying to safeguard the public from unnecessary disease and death, the letter states. “Americans deserve better.”
The letter is one of the many letters distributed to mobilize opposition against Kennedy’s nomination. In November 2008 during the campaign, the American Public Health Association complained that Kennedy lacks the training, management skills, temperament, and trust of the public to run the department.
Another ex-VP Mike Pence has also spoken ill of his former master’s choice for similar reasons regarding where he may possibly stand on abortion-related measures.
Kennedy has a history of posting information on social media about vaccines being unsafe, and dangerous which is not true. He has also claimed that federal inaction has made various health problems even worse, including autism, ADHD, sleep disorders, rates of infertility, diabetes, and obesity, and invariably warns about food additives and the use of pesticides.
“RFK Jr. has spent the last thirty years finally eroding people’s trust in vaccines due to his dishonesty and insistence on peddling misinformation and conspiracy theories,” the letter states.
It goes on to say: ‘As physicians, we are outraged by this appointment, and we implore the Senate to do so without any delay.’ Do not approve Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s nomination and call for competent HHS leadership focused on science and the welfare of the American people. Thus, America’s health and security should rely on it.”
